Frontier Impact Group decided to develop the Community Renewable Energy Financing Toolkit when they discovered that funding was one of the key barriers for Community Energy project developers and there was a need to improve financial literacy around renewable energy projects. The aim of the toolkit is to up-skill the financial literacy of community energy developers and increase the likelihood that projects can be funded. The Community Energy Funding Toolkit currently consists of two guidebooks: the Funding Basics Guidebook and a Behind the Meter Solar PV guidebook.
The project team (AEF and VCSA) worked with Frontier Impact Group early in the scoping of the project to identify and address barriers for the community energy sector. The two projects have developed highly complementary tools and an ongoing relationship is in place to ensure that community solar organisations can utilise these tools to implement projects effectively.
