Multicultural Aged Care Services Geelong (MACS)

This project will establish the first replicable community solar investment model in Victoria and enable Geelong Sustainability to co-ordinate community driven renewable energy projects in Geelong. The project at MACS will consist of 156kW of solar in total, 102.6kW on the Residential Care building and 53.4kW on Bella Chara. Energy Innovation Co-operative Ltd.’s Southern CORE Fund supports community groups to install renewable energy and energy efficiency measures, helping them cut power bills and reduce carbon emissions. Community groups apply for no-interest loans to pay for energy upgrades. Interest-free loans are paid back to the Fund from energy savings, becoming available to support the next group’s project. ‘Old Energy-New Energy’ at State Coal Mine Wonthaggi
